HOW WE STARTED

We moved to Oregon ten years ago with plans of starting a hobby farm.  We were staying at a private campground south of Florence while we searched for our farm.
There was a sweet little old lady across from our site that had several health issues and no hot water in her rig. Having the knowledge & tools we fixed her water heater. She insisted on paying because it finally worked right for the first time in over three years.
We had left the RV repair life behind, but she was forceful about paying since she had paid several repairmen who didn’t get it to work properly.
She told us that she has not been able to trust anyone to do the repairs she had on a long list and we passed the test.
She was so happy that she told everyone in the park. We had knocks on our door day and night for repair requests.
We had two choices…run & hide or get a business license & open our distributor accounts again. Evie was counting on us and we couldn’t let her down.
We were licensed within the week and booked solid within days. The farm was put on ‘hold’ because we didn’t have time to look.
We did not advertise, it was all word of mouth. We couldn’t keep up with the demand. Word spread and we were working from Bandon to Newport.
We don’t have a farm, but we have wonderful loyal customers that are more like family.
Evie has since passed. Rest her soul.
Every day we feel her watching over us like a guardian angel.

THERE ARE CHALLENGES

We have been doing RV repairs on the Oregon coast for ten years. We have a combined total of 72 years in the RV industry between the two of us and we still have our moments…

We had a family emergency about a thousand miles away. We decided the RV was our easiest fastest way to travel, instead of flying with layovers. We keep the rig ready to travel…usually.

We were in a hurry so we left Reedsport late at night. We made it to the Rogue River Rest Area and had to stop for some shut eye.

We woke up at sunrise to find a fuel leak under our rig. At that point we realized we hadn’t put the toolbox back in its compartment.

Don’t let anyone guilt you about your junk drawer. A Bic pen cap, a bolt & a hose clamp was what it took to MacGyver plug the fuel line…first attempt.

We drove to Medford where we found an auto parts store to get the correct part and some tools. We looked under the rig and saw the makeshift repair was holding, so we left it & hit the road.

We were just reminiscing when we realized that we never fixed our rig with the correct part. That repair has been holding for eight years and about ten thousand miles.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

We have surpassed 4,500 customers in the ten years that we have been in Oregon. We do work for the seasonal residents and camp hosts. We work from Bandon to Newport.

When we have tried to get away for a few days to enjoy our beautiful Oregon coast we find it harder to be incognito.

We took four days off to go to Gold Beach and were recognized within the first few hours. We had repair requests and parts orders. We weren’t able to relax at the campground and were followed home by the people who ordered parts and scheduled work.

We thought we would be safe outside our regular service area. That has always been a regular occurrence when we camp closer to home.

Don’t get me wrong…we love our customers, but we all need a break at some point.
